On Saturday, February 15th, 2025, YWCA Ghana proudly launched its newest branch — The New City Branch in Accra. This exciting addition to the YWCA Council is dedicated to serving the Inner-city youth, women, (and men) by offering targeted social empowerment, skills development, and income-generating programs aligned with both national and global YWCA goals.

The branch has three key objectives:

  1. To implement impactful programs that uplift and empower marginalized communities, especially inner-city women and youth.
  1. To support the national YWCA’s growth by enhancing systems, mobilizing resources, and upgrading facilities.
  1. To holistically support YWCA members in improving their livelihoods and overall well-being.

The launch event brought together 85 participants: women, young women, and youth from diverse backgrounds. Highlights of the day included a compelling presentation by the 2nd Vice President of YWCA Ghana, who shared insights into the organization’s rich history, mission, values, and operational structure.

The day also featured an engaging networking session, where attendees connected over refreshments, shared their personal and community concerns, and engaged in meaningful conversations, including discussions with a legal aid professional on issues affecting adolescents and youth.

The launch of The New City Branch was a resounding success, marked by high participation, vibrant engagement, and renewed commitment to the YWCA’s mission. This initiative represents a significant step forward in expanding YWCA’s reach and impact in Ghana’s urban communities, and sets the tone for deeper, community-driven transformation.
