YWCA Ghana is a community-driven movement led by women, young women, and girls, dedicated to transforming communities and the nation through women’s leadership. We invite you to join us in our mission to invest in women and girls, enhance their skills, build leadership, challenge power structures, and create positive change in Ghana.
With presence in five regions—Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Volta, and Bono—and numerous communities, our experienced leadership works alongside allies and activists to advance women’s rights. Our collaborative, intergenerational approach emphasizes empowering young women as vital to sustaining a progressive women’s movement.
Our Focus:
We focus on strengthening networks of women leaders and implementing programs tailored to their communities’ needs, advocating for human rights, gender equality, poverty alleviation, climate action, ending violence against women, and abolishing harmful cultural and religious practices through comprehensive social and health initiatives.
Our Commitment:
YWCA Ghana is committed to rebuilding and strengthening its efforts to empower vulnerable women and girls. By providing accessible knowledge, justice, health, dignity, and livelihood skills through targeted, short-term training in trades like home care, entrepreneurship, IT, and crafts, we aim to address their immediate needs and foster long-term independence.
Our renewed approach focuses on management and governance excellence and emphasizes social education, counselling, and peer support for those facing poverty and domestic violence, while also creating opportunities for apprenticeships with local businesses.
Additionally, we advocate for youth-friendly financial solutions and innovative funding mechanisms to ensure economic empowerment, confidence, and a brighter future for the women and girls we serve.
